Cristiano Ronaldo delivered an emotional tribute after scoring the decisive goal in Al-Nassr’s 2-1 victory over Al-Rayyan in the AFC Champions League. The Portuguese star found the back of the net in the 76th minute, sealing a crucial win for his team in a highly competitive match. Ronaldo’s celebration, however, carried deeper meaning as he dedicated the goal to his late father, who would have turned 71 on the same day.

“Today’s goal has a different flavor… I wish my father was alive because today is his birthday,” Ronaldo expressed after the match, visibly moved by the occasion.

A crucial win and a very personal moment for Cristiano Ronaldo

Ronaldo’s goal came with Al-Nassr already leading 1-0. Positioned on the right side of the penalty area, he struck the ball with his weaker left foot, curling it beautifully into the net. Immediately after, the 39-year-old ran to the corner, raising both hands to the sky in a poignant tribute to his father.

This goal not only secured the win for Al-Nassr but also marked Ronaldo’s eighth of the season. Despite his age, the veteran forward continues to thrive on the pitch, delivering for his team in every competition.

Ronaldo’s current form remains impressive, with seven goals in his last eight matches across all competitions. His performance against Al-Rayyan was his first in this edition of the AFC Champions League, having missed the opening match due to illness.

The Portuguese icon was a constant threat throughout the game, narrowly missing out on several other scoring opportunities, including a disallowed goal for offside.

Despite Al-Rayyan’s late efforts, including a goal from Roger Guedes, Ronaldo’s strike proved to be the difference, helping Al-Nassr secure third place in their group standings.

As Ronaldo looks ahead to the next match against Al-Orobah in the Saudi Pro League, he continues to showcase his enduring quality, with more goals likely to follow.
