England seemed all set to leave the field broken after their exit in the Round of 16 match against Slovakia. However, England’s golden boy, Jude Bellingham, once again stepped up and delivered with only seconds left for Slovakia’s glory.
A long throw from Walker was headed into the middle by Marc Guehi, only for Bellingham to produce a magical moment as he hit one of the most perfect on-target bicycles he would have ever liked to find the back of the Slovakian net, denying them a famous victory.
However, the England star raised the eyebrows of many as he made a controversial gesture after the goal. While walking down the sideline, the Real Madrid star moved his hand in front of his crotch and giggled, which turned on social media criticism as it was speculated that he did this to dishonour the Slovakia bench.
However, the buzz seemed to have lightened as Bellingham himself took to his X handle and mentioned how good and praiseworthy were the Slovakians against the Three-lions.
Bellingham responds on X
“An inside joke gesture towards some close friends who were at the game. Nothing but respect for how that Slovakia team played tonight.”
Bellingham ended his note with a handshake and yawning emoji, which made it a lighter-hearted post than a penned note of heavy justification.
