In a shocking turn of events, a spectator was hurried to the hospital after falling from the stands during EURO 2024 match. The startling occurrence took place at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin on June 21 during Poland’s 3-1 loss to Austria. As reported by Yahoo, the man “fell three meters into a ditch between the tribune and the infield.”
It was reported that he was unconscious before being taken to the hospital for treatment. However, the extent of his injuries is yet to be revealed, and his current condition is uncertain. Additionally, the cause of the fall is unknown.
According to The Mirror, the man, who was sitting in a mixed section of the stadium, fell while celebrating a goal. The ambulance remained at the stadium for approximately 30 minutes after the match ended. The caretakers covered the gap between the stands and the pitch with a tarpaulin while providing treatment for the man.
Meanwhile, ARD presenter, Alexander Bommes, present at the match, provided an update on the aforementioned situation.
“It’s gone quiet here. The Austrians were celebrating wildly. There is a more serious medical emergency. It looks like a Polish fan has fallen down the stands. We couldn’t follow it closely,” Bommes said.
Poland becomes first team to be eliminated from EURO 2024
Poland’s 1-3 loss to Austria followed their 1-2 defeat to the Netherlands in their opening clash at Euro 2024. With the Dutch and France’s match ended in a goalless draw on Friday night, Poland became the first team eliminated from the ongoing tournament.
