Poland has managed to hold France in a 1-1 draw in their final group-stage clash of Euro 2024 at Signal Iduna Park. The whole game was tense and thrilling until the final whistle. France started the game with an aggressive tone, looking to score right away early in the game. However, Poland’s strong and intact midfield buildup held firm.
One of the heartwarming moments for the fans was when Robert Lewandowski and Kylian Mbappe hugged each other before the kickoff. Their last encounter was in the Champions League final where Lewandowski came out on top. The first ended goalless as both Poland and France struggled to score the opening goal. The real drama began in the second half.
In the 56th minute, Kylian Mbappe, the French captain scored his first goal of Euro 2024. Mbappes’s goal led France to an advantage right away. In the 76th minute, Poland was awarded a penalty after VAR confirmed a push by Upamecano on Swiderski. Maignan saved Lewandowski’s penalty as he made a brilliant save. However, the drama didn’t end there as the referee allowed Poland to redeem their blunder. This time, Lewandowski made no mistake bagging the ball into the net to equalize in the 79th minute.

France’s struggled to breakthrough Poland’s defense
France is having difficulty breaking through Poland’s defense. During the game French coach, Didier Deschamps was seen frustrated and agitated over Poland’s immense defense tactics. France struggled to find a solution to move the ball way past their stubborn defense.
As the match neared its end, both teams created multiple chances to score. Oliver Giroud missed a golden opportunity for France to win over in the 85th minute from a very close range. Even in the dying moments, Upamecano failed to surplus their goals to the scorecard. France also failed to capitalize on Grienzmann’s free-kick.
