In a recent appearance in the podcast show hosted by ex-Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand, Cristiano Ronaldo was given the task of choosing the better player between two given choices.
Among other players, Ronaldo was tasked with choosing between two French national team players – his former Real Madrid teammate Karim Benzema and the current Los Blancos poster boy Kylian Mbappe. In a surprising move, Ronaldo chose Mbappe over Benzema.

The selection will be an unexpected one for most Los Blancos fans, who would have expected Cristiano Ronaldo to choose his long-term attacking partner Karim Benzema. The duo have played 342 matches together over nine seasons – the highest that any player has played alongside the Portuguese megastar.
However, Kylian Mbappe has been very public regarding his admiration of Cristiano Ronaldo. In fact, the 25-year-old forward announced his arrival to the Bernabeu crowd during his presentation by shouting Ronaldo’s catchphrase: “Uno, dos, tres, Hala Madrid!”
Scholes over Neville, Giggs over Beckham: Whom did Cristiano Ronaldo choose as the ‘better player’?
In the podcast, Rio Ferdinand gave Cristiano Ronaldo a series of player pairs, and the legendary striker had to choose the name of the ‘better’ player, in his opinion. Despite acknowledging the difficulty in comparing players playing in different positions, Ronaldo made some tough and rather interesting choices during the entire episode.
Ferdinand started the game by giving a choice between two former Manchester United teammates – Gary Neville and Paul Scholes. Ronaldo immediately picked Scholes, but given the choice between him and Beckham, chose the latter.
He then dropped the former England number 7 for Welsh legend Ryan Giggs and continued to pick the iconic winger over a series of former Real Madrid teammates – Sergio Ramos, Pepe, Marcelo, Xabi Alonso, and Toni Kroos.
However, he finally dropped Giggs when presented with a choice between him and the 2022 Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema, but the current Al-Ittihad striker lost out to Mbappe in the next choice.
The host then provided Cristiano Ronaldo with an interesting choice – Mbappe or Ferdinand himself. In a nice touch, Ronaldo picked his former Manchester United teammate over the French superstar, thus providing a nice end to the quiz game.
