Former Manchester City and Argentina forward Sergio Aguero welcomed a baby girl named Olivia with his model girlfriend Sofia Calzetti on Friday. This is the first child between Aguero and Calzetti.
Taking to social media, Sergio Aguero posted a picture of the newborn baby holding the hands of the new parents, with the caption reading (in Spanish):
“September 13, 2024. Welcome Olivia! We cannot express in words so much happiness.”
The post has been liked more than 740,000 times in less than one day, and among those who sent well-wishes to the couple was Lionel Messi’s wife Antonella Rocuzzo, who wrote “Congratulations” in the comments section of Aguero’s post.
Several of his teammates and former footballers, including David de Gea, Ezequiel Lavezzi, and Patrick Kluivert, also shared congratulations to Aguero and Calzetti.
This is the second time that Sergio Aguero has become the father after the birth of his son Benjamin, nicknamed Benji, in 2009. At that time, Aguero was married to Giannina Maradona, the youngest daughter of Diego Maradona, who was in attendance at his grandson’s birth.
Sergio Aguero and Giannina Maradona divorced in 2012 after being married for four years. Since then, Aguero and Argentine businesswoman and model Sofia Calzetti started dating in 2019. The pair briefly broke off their relationship in September of last year, but are now back together following Calzetti’s pregnancy.

What has Sergio Aguero been doing since his retirement?
After a long and illustrious career with Atletico Madrid and Manchester City, Sergio Aguero moved to FC Barcelona to fulfil his wish of playing alongside Lionel Messi.
However, that was not meant to be, as Messi left following the expiry of his contract, and Aguero himself was forced to retire after playing just four matches for his new team following a diagnosis of cardiac arrhythmia.
Since then, the former Argentina national team striker has focused on the world of e-sports.
After the outbreak of COVID-19 led to a lockdown around the world, Aguero opened a channel on the live streaming platform Twitch and became one of the fastest-growing channels in the Spanish-language community. He has since then hosted several guests on his channel, including Lionel Messi himself.
Aguero has also indulged himself in the Gerard Pique-backed seven-a-side football competition Kings League and has served as a chairman as well as a guest player for a team named Kunisports.
