Abdukodir Khusanov is expected to sign for Manchester City, and Vitor Reis will also join the reigning Premier League champions. Real Madrid is anticipated to sign a center-back within the next 1-2 years, though the list of targets is gradually shrinking.

Reis has been on Real Madrid’s radar for the past year, and their strong relationship with Palmeiras was anticipated to give them an edge in negotiations. However, they never made a move, and instead, Manchester City is set to sign the Brazilian youngster for around €40 million, according to Fabrizio Romano. So far this season, it’s clear that Real Madrid needs to sign a center-back – and soon. One will not arrive in January, but by the summer, there may be few names left on the shortlist.

Fans of the defending Premier League champions have been encouraged by their club’s busy transfer window, but the arrival of Khusanov, and possibly Reis, is not directly addressing City’s main area problem in central midfield. Reis is the second center-back set to move for the club this window after Abdukodir Khusanov, who will be arriving in the UK to compete for the £33.5 million transfer from Lens.
