England midfielder Phil Foden has departed the team’s Euro 2024 camp to be with his girlfriend for the birth of his third child. However, the Football Association is yet to provide official details regarding the footballer’s departure.
As per reports, Phoden’s partner Rebecca Cooke is currently in the UK for the delivery. Back in April this year, the couple revealed that they were expecting their third child. They made the announcement by sharing a couple of images on social media of a lavish baby shower party. Phoden and Cooke have a five-year-old son named Ronnie and a one-year-old daughter named True. They celebrated the baby shower with a large blue and white balloon arch and prominent LED letters reading, “baby Foden.”
“Phil Foden has temporarily left the England camp and returned to the UK for a pressing family matter,” an FA spokesperson said.
Phil Foden expected to join England Squad for Round of 16 game
Phi Foden has started all three of England’s games at the EURO 2024 in Germany thus far. He is expected to join the squad when the Three Lions play in the last 16. Just like his teammates, the Manchester City star also struggled to replicate his club form in the ongoing competition. Additionally, his role within the team has been questioned. There were suggestions to occupy him at the No. 10 position or to be replaced by a more traditional left winger.
Despite England’s uninspiring performances in all three group-stage games, they finished top of Group C. They played their last group game against Slovenia but failed to overpower a determined side with the match ending in a goalless draw on Tuesday night in Cologne. After the final whistle, Slovenia were in awe, making their first-ever qualification for the EURO knockout phase.
